2005’s Worst Movie

I think one of the worst movies of the past year was Star Wars Episode III. How come it is not on anyone's worst list?

Sure we all went and saw it but it was campy, kitchy and laughable. Darth Vader breaking free of his restraints ala Frankenstein was HI-LaRiOUs!

What a sad end to Hollywood's greatest original epic myth.

worst movie? well, i watched a lot of crap this year, like star wars: ROTS (was that appropriate, or what?), sahara, and troy. alexander is up there, as is the terminally dull war of the worlds, but i think my vote for "worst" has to go to that l.a.-bashing critical favorite, crash. pretentious pseudo "art" films are generally far worse than bad b-movies, because at least the b-movies rarely try to evoke in their audiences the sort of liberal guilt on display in a film like crash.

'Cause it was great. But, then, I actually liked Episode 2.

At any rate, it's kind of tough to take George Lucas to task over his taste for throwback camp, since that's kind of been his main schtick all along.

Rest assured, though, that some people do seem to agree with you.

Here's an alternative list of some all but forgetten crap of 2005, gleaned mostly from Peter Travers' 100 worst list.

(I've seen none of these, but every one looked like a true crime against cinema.)

The Man
Man of the House
The Honeymooners
