MCA Names New Director

"Madeleine Grynsztejn has been appointed to the position of Pritzker Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago, announced Helen Zell, Chair of the Board of Trustees." Art or Idiocy? just learned this news via an email press release. Earlier this year current Director Bob Fitzpatrick announced his plans to leave at the end of 2007/beginning of 2008. Grynsztejn is to begin sometime in early Spring of 08. You will recall she recently curated the Richard Tuttle retrospective that was on view at the MCA earlier this year.

Grynsztejn is seen here with Richard Tuttle. She is giving a guided tour to the press at the opening of the Chicago iteration of retrospective. Tuttle wears the speaker for the portable mic on his shoulder while Grynsztejn speeks. He sports purple Chuck Taylors, and beneath his jacket hides a tight black & white checkered T-shirt. Art or Idiocy? took the pic on a camera phone and we've been dying to post it since.
